What is E-max Dental Veneer?
E-max (IPS e.max) is a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic based material and the most advanced aesthetic dental veneer material available today. Developed by Ivoclar Vivadent, this material is known for having the closest light translucency to natural tooth enamel. It can be applied as both laminate veneers and full crowns.

How is E-max Veneer Performed?

Digital Smile Design
Veneer shape, size, and color are planned using 3D scanning and digital smile design. The result is tested in the mouth with a mock-up application and patient approval is obtained.
Tooth Preparation
Teeth are prepared using a minimally invasive technique. Only 0.3-0.5mm of reduction is sufficient for E-max laminate veneers. A precise record is taken with a digital impression (intraoral scanner).
CAD/CAM Production
Digital data is transmitted to the laboratory. E-max blocks are precisely shaped using CAD/CAM technology. Natural tooth aesthetics are achieved through color layering and crystallization firing.
Bonding and Control
E-max veneers are permanently bonded to the teeth using a special adhesive bonding technique. Treatment is completed with a final check of color match, occlusion, and aesthetics.
Emax vs Zirconium
E-max is the material with the closest light translucency to natural tooth enamel and provides superior aesthetics especially in front teeth. Zirconium stands out for back teeth with its higher compressive strength. At our clinic, combined treatment plans using E-max for front teeth and zirconium for back teeth are also applied. This ensures both aesthetics and durability at the highest level.
E-max Veneer Advantages
1. Natural Light Translucency
E-max has the closest light translucency to natural tooth enamel among all dental ceramics. This gives the veneer an appearance indistinguishable from a natural tooth. It provides a distinct advantage over zirconium and metal-supported ceramics, especially for front teeth.
2. Superior Durability
Thanks to its lithium disilicate structure, it has a compressive strength of 400 MPa. It is 2-3 times more durable than conventional porcelain. The risk of fracture and cracking is kept to a minimum.
3. Minimal Tooth Preparation
Only 0.3-0.5mm of tooth reduction is sufficient for E-max laminate veneer application. This means the natural tooth structure is largely preserved. In some cases, it can even be applied without any preparation (no-prep veneer).
4. Excellent Biocompatibility
E-max glass ceramic is perfectly compatible with the gums and resistant to plaque accumulation. Since it is metal-free, there is no risk of allergic reaction. It preserves gum health and prevents gum recession in the long term.
5. Long-Lasting Aesthetics
