What is Otoplasty?
Ear aesthetics, medically known as otoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure performed to correct anomalies in the shape, size, or position of the ears. The most commonly performed ear aesthetic operation is prominent ear correction. Additionally, ear reduction, earlobe repair, and asymmetry correction are also within the scope of otoplasty.

Examination & Planning
Ear structure, cartilage thickness, and asymmetry are evaluated. The ideal ear-to-head distance is calculated and a surgical plan is created.
Anestezi
Local anesthesia is preferred for adults, and general anesthesia for children. The procedure is performed completely painlessly.
Surgical Procedure
The cartilage is accessed through an incision made behind the ear. The cartilage is reshaped and secured in the new position with permanent sutures. The operation takes 1-1.5 hours.
Recovery
A bandage is applied after the operation. The bandage is removed after 1 week. Wearing a night band for 2-3 weeks is recommended. Scars remain behind the ear.
Prominent Ear Correction
Prominent ear is a condition where the ear protrudes noticeably from the head due to underdevelopment of the antihelical fold or an excessively large conchal cartilage. With otoplasty, the cartilage is reshaped and the ear is brought to its natural position. The result is permanent and the risk of recurrence is very low.
